Comet Aerospace leads the Flexwing project, with support from CDTI, with the aim of developing morphing-capable lifting surfaces for aircraft.
The Flexwing project focuses on industrial research into morphing technology that can be applied to any trailing edge of a lifting surface on an aircraft, improving aerodynamic efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.
The project is being carried out by a consortium of companies led by Comet Aerospace, together with Mecanizados S.A., Cálculo y Estructuras Sensadas S.L. and Ingeniería Prosix S.L.
The project has received European and CDTI funding under the Aeronautical Technology Programme of the State Programme to catalyse innovation and business leadership within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The Flexwing project PTAP-2023 1022 has an approved budget for Comet of €1,094,440 and runs from June 2023 to June 2025.
