Deployable antenna project funded by AVI and ERDF

COMET Aerospace has received funding from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme of the Comunitat Valenciana 2021-2027, for the research and development of deployable antennas for communication and Earth observation space missions with accommodation on small satellites.

COMET Aerospace has completed the project “Research and development of deployable antennas for communication and Earth observation space missions with accommodation on small satellites”. The three-year project aimed to develop antennas and deployable helical structures and reflectors for detecting aquifers from space and for Earth observation, respectively. All project objectives have been successfully achieved.

This project, file no. INNCAD/2023/147, has been funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) with support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.

During 2025, the following work packages were completed:

  • Research into deployable helical structures with deployable appendages for use as VHF radars.
  • Development of high-gain deployable reflectors for Earth observation applications.
  • Research into deployable helical structures for use as quadrifilar antennas at VHF frequency.
